Swyysh Topshot NBA Week 15 Fantasy Picks (04/18/21)

Week 14 Recap

Lets get into it, first we will dive right into my Devin Booker suggestion. Just a couple of days ago, against a beat up Miami squad, all Booker could do was finish with a paltry 10 Points in 23 minutes of playing time. This is the NBA and not fantasy, the truth is Phoenix didn’t need him, as Miami couldn’t even get 90 points that game, but it doesn’t make it hurt less. Fear not as it was highly unlikely Dev was going to be putting up back-to-back duds, and had a great rebound game .

Prior to that Heat turd, Booker had finished with 24 pts and 27 pts in the couple of games before that one, and when you look back at the start of the month and including Mar. 31, Booker had six outings of over 30 pts compared to just two below that mark. So, will I shy away from him in the future? Probably not, but the matchups have to make sense.

I had Luka Doncic instead of Fox last week and Fox did have the better week overall but Doncic was not too far behind him. My pick for Blocks was spot on, Rudy Gobert ended up being the best option. Judging by lineups looks like a lot of people were on the Myles Turner bandwagon, so kudos to you if you went with Gobert. For Assist my Westbrook pick also came through in the clutch, the man has been a triple double machine coming 1 assist shy last game but still shows no signs of slowing down.

3 Pointer was a no brainer. Every time you think you’ve seen it all. Stephen Curry shows you there is more offer, its not someone topping he, it is him topping himself. On Monday, the future Hall of Famer dropped a cool 53 points on 10 made 3-pointers.

The Chef also broke Wilt Chamberlain’s all-time Warrior scoring record. Then, if you were expecting a down night against a soft OKC team, he was even better in the blowout 147-109 win. Curry scored 42 points on 11-of-16 shooting from behind the arc in just 3 Quarters.

Players and Teams to Avoid Week 15

Temper expectations this week, there is a whopping 11 NBA Teams that have less then 4 Games this week. With the Mavs, Lakers, Clippers, Timberwolves, Pelicans, Knicks, Thunder, Magic, Kings, and Jazz only having 3 games and Toronto with a putrid 2 games this week. There are some key players that you are going to want to avoid.

Luka Doncic has been a valuable contributor in the last month in the assist and 2 Pointer category. He also has some solid matchups against the Pistons and Lakers but here I would take quantity or quality as I don’t think the 3 games is going to be enough to trust him over some of the other leaders in this category. The 19 assists were impressive but I don’t think he will replicate that 3 games in a row.

Zion Williamson even with the back 2 back this week ended up being a leader in the 2 Pointer category. Zion has been an absolute monster in April and his skills as an overall playmaker have been impressive to watch. With that said 3 Matchups is just not enough to lead the category, besides the Magic the schedule is also not the easiest, I will be avoiding him this week.

Boucher would be a volleyball champion but instead he blocks for the NBA with only 2 Games though, avoid him. Myles Turner, I know what you are thinking 4 Game slate, block leader “Why avoid him”? Myles suffered an ankle injury on Tuesday against the Bulls and hasn’t played since. The good news is based on past data when he is healthy and returns from injuries, the Pacers seem to play him in full. So, if there is news he may play tomorrow or Monday, I may change my tone, but I am also weary of an ankle sprain lingering.

Nifty Picks for Week 15

Let’s face it Stephen Curry is a monster when it comes to the 3pt category. If there is one position in Swyysh that is a no brainer it would be this one. Curry on a 3 game slid at this point would be a no brainer.

Next category we will dive into is Blocks. Still not seeing the strength in going for steals in this category. My pick this week, even with only 3 games this week is Rudy Gobert. He led the category this week with only 3 games and taking a rest day Saturday. So, with Myles Turner having ankle issues, Bouchard having only 2 Games and Noel only having 3 Games as well. I don’t think you can go wrong with a freshly rested Gobert.

When we look at assist, I still love Harden for this category but not sure if he will be back this week. Luka has also been surprising in April in the cat, with the 3 game skid and the inconsistency, it does have me shying away him this week. While I like Chris Paul as a cheaper option, the Wizards have a soft schedule this week, making Russ Westbrook a no brainer pick for the assist category this week.

We have 2 picks in the 2pt category. I have decided to come in this week with a completely different look. Truth be told, really wanted to pick Beal here with the soft schedule this week but my gut is telling me that after playing Sunday they are going to sit him Monday. If they don’t I might have some regrets.

So, with my first pick this week, I am going to go with De’Aaron Fox. Fox just keeps getting better and better as the season progresses. The lightning fast guard has averaged 27.7 PPG in six games this month, including a 43-point freak game against the Pelicans on Monday.

Another guy I love is Jaylen Brown, what he has been doing lately is great to watch, but he is also a sniper from deep and we are looking for 2 pointers in this category. My next pick is going to be Joel Embiid, he hasn’t missed a beat since returning from injury and continues to have a MVP caliber season.

Value Moment of the Week

Keep an eye on the James Wiseman Rookie card, since it was announced that he was out for the year, I have slowly seen his rookie moment drop in value. If it continues to drop lower (sub $200), it maybe a great buying opportunity. As with most players, out of sight, out of mind. With that said, he has the skillset to be a very promising big man in the future and if you can secure his rookie now on the cheap, it maybe a card that will pay dividends later.
